California Girl
Well, here I am. Living on the line between Culver City and Palms, I officially reside in Los Angeles County.
Work began yesterday after nearly a week of acclimating (read: driving 2500 miles cross-country with only my meowing cat to keep me company; enduring the Mojave National Preserve, which gave me a sunburn on just my left arm; paying $3.59 for regular unleaded gas; entering my apartment for the first time after spending nearly all my savings on it three weeks prior; renting/driving a Budget moving truck on the Santa Monica Freeway in 9 a.m. traffic ALONE; meeting Rachel and JR for the first time as they helped me carry an hour's worth of boxes up two flights of stairs; buying a refrigerator from
the Hollywood Home Depot that was delivered at 7 a.m. Saturday; attending my new church for the first time and meeting at least 20 incredibly interesting people). Everyone here has been amazing. From Dave and Barbara Masoner, my new adopted parents, greeting me before I saw my apartment, to Rankin and Hannah being my semi-constant companions in crime and fellow Ikea-lovers, this has been great. 80's during the cloudless days, 60's in the evenings with nary a mosquito bite to annoy me, I have no serious complaints save missing my friends and family three time zones to the east. Yeah, the EST to PST is killing me. But at least the L.A. traffic hasn't yet...
