So I never really said much about the cross-country drive. It took 4 days plus an evening. I brought my cat and stayed with three families and in one hotel. All three families were allergic to cats. But they all thought she was cute! Here's recent photographic evidence of her cuteness:
By the time I hit Denver, it was time to bust out the camera. Again, apologies to Kansas, but YOU ARE FLAT. I purchased a propagandist postcard at a truck stop in Kansas that had a lovely photo of interstate 70 winding across a landscape of rolling hills with green vegetation - incredibly picturesque. The caption on the back included the statement 'a common misconception is that Kansas is flat'. I firmly believe the photo was taken in Missouri. I am here to testify that Kansas is indeed flat, and so flat that it has caused the eastern part of Colorado to succumb to flatness. How sad. Buck up, Colorado! Don't give in to the flatness!
So driving into Denver, it had been raining on me for quite a while. That made conditions perfect for rainbows. This is a double rainbow that I saw both sides of. It was so big, though, I could only capture one side with my camera at a time.
The next morning, I had the distinct pleasure of taking 70 across the continental divide and into Summit County, home of Copper, Breckenridge, Keystone, Winterpark
and some lesser ski slopes. I stopped for gas across from Copper, and it was strange to see it with no snow. My Xterra looks great in front of the rugged backdrop, though! I lunched in Aspen (thank goodness Qdoba has hit the Rockies), then pressed on toward the untamed, although thoroughly converted, state of Utah. During a 130-mile stretch of nothingness (no gas, no food, no potties, no cell service, no kidding), I took this photo.
For those of you wondering what my life is like now, my room looks something like this (photo not actual size). It's not finished, but it's coming along! I've already filled a suitcase with clothes for Goodwill and taken down countless bags of trash. Here's to living more simply.

Just making sure this is working...Lyd?
when did you get an xterra? Wow, I think I am so not connected to your life. Or maybe not just to details such as that.
I think it is time for some pictures of the "people in your neighborhood"!
test?
